Saturday 31st May 2008
The Myland community was out
in force on Saturday 31st May, when we held our Grand Open Day - over 200
people were involved in demonstrating our interest in the Halls, our
involvement in the organisation and our commitment to see the Halls
developed as an even greater community resource.
All the User Organisations
attended and presented displays to promote their activities; the Parish
Council came along as part of their drive to ensure Myland continues to
grow into a vibrant community; and there was a steady stream of interested
residents, all keen to make their point on the services which are urgently
needed in our locality.
It was also good that one of
our strongest supporters, our member of Parliament Hon Bob Russell MP,
came along - and also the Leader of Colchester Borough Council, Mile end's
own Anne Turrell. Robert Johnstone, Chairman of Myland Parish Council, was
also present, as were a number of Myland Councillors and other key members
of the community. Thank you, one and all, for your support.
Plans for the redevelopment
of the Halls were on show alongside a 3-D screen presentation, and the
Project Team had also marked out the ground showing the boundaries of the
extended premises, which really brought the project to life.
Here's a couple of
photos.... they don't show much activity, though - in all the other photos
we took, there were too many people in the way!!
